What we're about

Please note: Occasionally, other group leaders copy our group's events, which can create confusion for newer members. So, to clarify, this is The San Diego Corgi Meetup, not corgi group or club.

Imagine 90 stubby corgis frolicking in the park or running thru the surf. Now imagine their owners laughing and discussing what makes them similar and what makes them separate personalities. That's what this meetup is all about. Come join us and just maybe you'll share a laugh or two while watching our big dogs with short legs play.

Our main Corgi Meetup happens once monthly, on the 4th Saturday of the month. We also have mini-meetups scheduled regularly, and any member can suggest a new Meetup. For about two hours, our corgis romp together, while us humans mingle. This is a great opportunity to bond with your corgi companion while practicing socialization skills and showing off your pride and joy!

We will be meeting at various venues around San Diego.

Please join us!

September San Diego Corgi Meetup -Farewell to Summer -Del Mar Dog Beach

September 22nd is the first day of Fall and kids will all be back to school, mostly in-person; but did someone think to tell our corgis? They're still shedding in the 90º heat, watching you come and go with increased frequency, and secretly hoping you'll don flip-flops to take them to the beach. Let's not disappoint.

I can't think of a better place to say so long to summer than Del Mar Dog Beach, especially at low tide. At the lowest tides, the beach stretches 100 yards to the surf, revealing rocks and tide pools. On this day, low tide (1.1ft) occurs close to sunset and should allow plenty of room for 60+ corgis to frolic in the surf. If you want to stay, we'll be saying farewell to summer by catching the sunset @ 6:54pm.

This is by far my favorite place to bring the pups, even though I’ve moved to north county. From the mouth of the San Dieguito River to the northern stretch of costal bluff, this place is a corgi paradise. Tate loves to drop-in on any ball thrown into the surf. And Teal... she loves to run as fast as she can with a group on her (literal) tail.

BRING: chairs, towels, water for both you and your dog. Luau attire optional. There is a dog/person drinking fountain at the north entrance. Poop bags can also be found at the entrances.

PARKING: this is tricky

You'll find FREE PARKING on 101 south of the bridge and north on Via de la Valle. METERED PARKING (pay-and-display-your-ticket box) is $6/hr. Remember that Del Mar likes its parking ticket revenue; so watch your time diligently.

Whether your corgi prefers frolicking in the surf, meandering in the river outlet, or rolling in the sand, come watch our corgis play as we say so long to summer!

Rain will cancel this event.
