Policies and other information

We have an open membership policy. Since one of our main purposes is to socialize our Yorkies, anyone with a Yorkie can join. If you are not local, you can participate in our message board to learn and get advice on the care & feeding of your precious Yorkies too.

Here are answers to some common membership questions:

Q: My yorkie has a non-yorkie buddy; can they come to the meetup?
A: Of course! We welcome all "yorkie friends" to join our events.

Q: I have a yorkie/pom mix; can we join the group?
A: Of course, our group is open to all that looks and acts like a yorkie.

Q: I don't have a yorkie yet but love them; can I join?
A: We've had members who were with us for over a year before finding their baby. This is the perfect group for those who want to find out more about yorkies and how to care for them before finding their forever baby.

Q: I don't have a Yorkie, but I have a small dog under in the 7 to 20 pound range. Can I join your meetups?
A: Yes, as long as your dog is not aggresive toward small dogs, you can join in the fun. We do want to keep our dogs in the small size range due to respect of the tiny Yorkies (2 to 4 lbs) that attend. Even a nice larger dog can get rough when playing and that could cause a problem.

Q: I am not able to attend meetups due to .......... . I do have a Yorkie. Can I still join your meetup?
A: Yes of course! You can benefit from the message board and get advice and info about Yorkies. Of course any health issues should be taken to your well trained Vet.

The following are a few "common sense" guideline to follow when attending group events:

* Please make sure that your yorkie has had all it's shots prior to mingling with the rest of the Yorkies.
* Please NEVER bring your yorkie if you suspect that s/he is sick. Kennel cough is highly contagious!
* If you have a girl who is in season, it's not a good idea to bring her to the meetups - if you do, please DO NOT let her mingle with the rest of the yorkies (e.g. keep her in your lap).
* If your adult yorkie has not been socialized, it may be a good idea to keep him/her on a leash while starting socialization. This may help them feel more secure with 20-30 yorkies running amuck!
* Please be a good auntie/uncle! We all love our babies and the meetups are a time for both our yorkies and us to socialize. Though we all try to keep an eye on our own babies, we may not do so 100% of the time. So, try to keep a watchful eye on all our yorkies and let parents know if troubles arise (or if scooping is needed smile).
