What we're about

Every month we meet at various locations to learn the secrets of Santa Barbara's sensational cuisine from the people who produce, market and prepare our food. We visit farms, markets, restaurants, culinary stores, wineries, the marina and many more. Learn and experience what local is all about.Our goal is to bridge the gap between taste, health and the environment by purchasing local food produced by our farmers. This will nourish our body with delicious fresh food and preserve our soil, wildlife, land, farm workers and our community. I am a long time foodie and dietitian who teaches nutrition to chefs at SBCC and works as a dietitian at Sansum Clinic. Feel free to email me to share your thoughts and ideas.

** Recently I have started to post food and farm events by other organizations, mostly non-profits. It has crowded our calendar and may be confusing;some of these events charge a fee that may seem extravagant. I try to only promote events that meet our goal of education and fun. I do not always attend these events although I wish I could.

Harvest BBQ, Peaches and Farm Tour and U-Pick at Buttonwood Winery

“Bindi Farms Raw Dairy Farm Tour and Tasting”

RSVP early for this wonderful opportunity.
Join us for a guided tour of Bindi Farms. The farm is one of the only raw micro dairies in the area, raising both Jersey cows and Nubian goats. Learn about the history of raw milk, the politics, and influences that have shaped today’s dairy culture in the US and the resurgence of interest and demand for this true superfood. You will feel good about the farm’s non tradition and animal welfare centered practices, and meet the variety of furry and feathered faces of the farm, from bouncing goat kids, diva cows, to curious emus. After the presentation and tour, join us on the shaded lawn for a tasting of a variety of the farms products including raw Jersey and goat milk, kefir, and cheeses with accompaniments.
Please park alongside the road where there is a wide shoulder.
