Hands-On Workshop: Basic Network & Web-app Pentesting

Details
*** PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE POST BEFORE COMING TO THE EVENT ***
*** PLEASE RSVP BEFORE WED, JULY 31st SO WE CAN HAVE THE RIGHT HEAD COUNT FOR SPACE, FOOD AND DRINKS ***
In this last minute meetup event for the month of July, we'll be doing a hands-on workshop on basic network & web-app pentesting. We will help attendees set up a vulnerable VM (e.g. VulnHub) and work with them to go through the usual (basic) pentesting steps, from an initial port scan all the way to getting root/admin access.
This meeting will be intentionally unstructured, to encourage a lot of interaction and knowledge sharing between participants. The goal is for all of us to go home having learned something new.
Event Agenda
05.30pm -- Event Kickoff & Announcements, by Martín Villalba (OWASP)
05.45pm -- Workshop: Basic Network & Web-app Pentesting, by Martín V. and Armin Akhbari
07.00pm -- 15 min break / food
07.15pm -- Workshop (continued)
08.30pm -- Open Discussion, by everyone :)
### Workshop Requirements ###
Laptop with 8+ GB ram, 25+ GB free space, admin access, VirtualBox installed (to load vulnerable VMs, VMWare should work as well), Kali Linux installed (usually as a VM as well).
We encourage everyone to bring topics and questions for the open discussion. It's a great opportunity to share knowledge and hopefully get that particular answer you couldn't figure out on your own.
The event will be hosted at InTouch Health offices, building 2, located at 7402 Hollister Ave, Goleta. Please see the pictures at https://bit.ly/2yenclw for exact directions to the building, otherwise you will not find it.
We hope to see you there!
