Hackergarten #6: Create your own Ethereum Token

Details

Austin Coleman and Adam Novak will teach you how to create your own Ethereum (ERC-20) token and get rich (getting rich not guaranteed.) We will review the basics of creating Ethereum smart contracts using the (javascript-like) Solidity language. Experience with one or more programming languages is recommended, but no prior Ethereum or Solidity experience is necessary.

Sponsored by Rivetz. https://www.rivetz.com

A hackergarten is a cooperative alternative to a Hackathon. The term and concept is a European import and we think it's a great fit for Santa Cruz. The Devoxx website explains (https://www.devoxx.be/hackergarten/):

Hackergartens are a great place to meet new people, have fun, and improve the lives of developers around the world one patch at a time; provided you’re willing to bring your laptop and get your hands dirty. Write a plugin, a tutorial, a small feature, or a bug fix for a project that interests you alongside several open-source experts willing to share their knowledge.

Tentative Agenda:

  1. Network & chat to start
  2. Introductions
  3. Quick review of Solidity
  4. Quick presentation of sample ERC-20 contract
  5. Start from the template and create your token
  6. Deploy on the Ethereum network

We are open to agenda changes and suggestions. Looking forward to seeing you there!
