What we're about

This is a group for anyone interested in hiking, but also interested in making sure their dogs get great exercise too, but don't have enough hours in the day to do both! Let's go hike friends and our well behaved dogs! There are lots of fun hiking great in the Santa Cruz area that accommodate dog walkers. All shapes and sizes of licensed, vaccinated, well socialized, and well behaved dogs are welcome. All skills levels of (well behaved!!) human hikers are welcome. I started this group to meet other outdoor enthusiasts, who love to be with their dogs. Looking forward to exploring the outdoors with new two and four legged freinds!

Santa Cruz hikes with dogs at Pogonip Park, end of Spring Street

Pogonip Park, end of Spring Street entrance

We will continue doing our walks as long as dog walks are permissible. The obvious rules are: don't come if you even suspect you are sick or if you had contact with someone who might be sick, stay 6 feet away from each other and don't touch anyone or their possessions, cough in your elbow. Lets go get some sun on our faces, breathe some fresh air and get rid of this weeks cabin fever. (calm down, not a real fever). RAIN CANCELS Hi everybody, Pogonip Spring Trail Trail head (meet at end of Spring Street) is a nice approx 3 mile hike, mostly level except if we take the lime kiln detour. Interesting to see them if you haven't for Santa Cruz history. Please update your RSVP before 9:00 AM on the day of the hike if your plans change. We will hit the trails at 10:00 AM, so please be prompt, or you will be walking by yourself. Dogs must be licensed, vaccinated and non-aggressive. I don't think most of you know this, but Meetup charges a fee to use their website. It comes out of my checking account every 6 months. If you can make a small contribution now and then it would be appreciated. Looking forward to meeting you at Pogonip. I'd be glad to hear some suggestions about new places to meet and walk with our doggos! DeLaveaga Park

We will continue doing our walks as long as dog walks are permissible. The obvious rules are: don't come if you even suspect you are sick or if you had contact with someone who might be sick, stay 6 feet away from each other and don't touch anyone or their possessions, cough in your elbow. Have a towel and/or seat cover. Dogs must be kept on leash no longer than 6 feet, and off of the athletic fields per Park rules. No retractable leashes. Please update your RSVP by 9:00 AM if your plans change so we don't stand around waiting for you to show up. We will hit the trails at 10:00 AM or sooner if everyone is there, so be prompt or you will be walking alone. RSVP closes at 9 AM day of the walk. Dogs must be vaccinated, licensed and non-aggressive. As always, donations to fund this Meetup group are appreciated. The host is currently footing the $20 per month Meetup website charge, and would appreciate donations to cover this expense. Thanks!
