For those who experienced the late 1990s tech boom, innovation was happening everywhere. An excitement existed. However, it did result in the tech bust. Still, innovation continued in the decade that followed. It now has produced the “Frightful Five” — Apple, Amazon, Facebook, Google, and Microsoft.

With the coming Fourth Industrial Revolution – defined “as the advent of ‘cyber-physical systems’ involving entirely new capabilities for people and machines, a question arises if startups and entrepreneurs will flourish or perish during this time.

  • If innovation is to come from startups, what can we do now?
  • Are older entrepreneurs better equipped to drive startup success?
  • Is entrepreneurial innovation history or filled with possibility?
  • What policies can foster entrepreneurial innovation (e.g., break up big tech)?
  • What can Santa Fe do to foster entrepreneurial innovation?
