What we do matters and we are the agents for change we would see manifest in the world. Not everyone is suited for rolling paint or standing in a protest line, but there are many ways of engaging in the vital work of justice-making (https://www.uua.org/justice): service, education, organizing, advocacy, lobbying, and witness. Our members engage in all of these. We are particularly focused on the following issues: Immigrant and Refugee Justice, Environmental Justice, Gun Violence Prevention, Domestic Violence Awareness, Legislative Advocacy, and Poverty issues. Not enough for you? Organize another team around your passionate justice issue!
"When injustice becomes law, resistance becomes duty." - Thomas Jefferson
The UU Santa Fe Environmental Justice Team usually meets the fourth Sunday of each month. We're combining November and December, and meeting on Sunday, December 11 at noon. We'll reflect on 2022 - what was good? What blew our minds? And look forward to 2023 - what are our hopes and dreams?
If we run out of things to say, we'll watch short films about Managing Fire in NM, and you can read the chapter on Fire Ecology in Paul Hawken's book Regeneration.
We're meeting hybrid - on zoom, and at UU Santa Fe, 107 W. Barcelona, in Fellowship Hall. See you there!
