What we’re about

Do you care deeply about peace, social justice and economic fairness? Do you think globally but yearn for a way to act locally? As well as being anti-racist and anti-sexist, do you want to work against racism and sexism? Are you looking for an outlet to help bend the "moral arc of the universe," to feel like you have agency in the struggle to make the world a better place?

Then you belong here!

This Meetup group is sponsored by the Peace & Social Justice Committee of the Unitarian Universalist Community Church of Santa Monica and is for everyone - people of all faiths and no faith - who wants to make a difference by working for justice and peace in this world and in our local communities (LA Westside-focused). Some of our projects include protesting unjust wars, supporting workers trying to resist racism and organize for fair pay, and engaging with local civic leaders on a variety of issues, including the rights of immigrants. We occasionally partner with other organizations such as the ACLU to sponsor documentary screenings and distinguished speakers on topics related to peace, justice and civil liberties. We often work with other local non-profits, congregational and secular groups to promote peace and justice.
