What we're about

Santa Sophia is an inclusive progressive Independent Eucharistic Catholic community in Santa Cruz County that has been meeting for over ten years. We meet monthly to celebrate Mass, 1st Century Christian style. This means we meet in private homes to celebrate Mass and the Eucharist and then literally break bread with a meal held immediately afterward. You can become as involved as you want to be with our community. We have opportunities to do volunteer work in community, to work on outreach, to work on developing our liturgy. So please come and join us.

FAQ:

I am Christian, but not Catholic can I still come?

Yes you can. We celebrate a Catholic Mass but you are welcome to join us.

What is meant by “Inclusive”?

Our focus is on the hope and joy that comes with the Gospel and with community, not by condemning others. We are male and female, couples and singles, we are white, we are Hispanic, we are straight, we are gay, we are in our forties and we are in our sixties and beyond.

Will I be in trouble with the Church?

We believe in the supremacy of conscience and support well informed adult decision Thoughtful and unbiased guidance can be provided if you have concerns as to whether or not this community would work for you.

Blessings and love to you. Christine, RCWP (http://romancatholicwomenpriests.org/), Lance
