What we're about

Love Latin Dance or want to learn? We have several classes for you and your family and friends.

No partner is required and no experience is needed. Wear dance shoes, smooth leather soled shoes, or smooth soul tennis shoes.

Wednesdays

Jonathan has been teaching for the City of Santa Clarita, Parks and Recreation four sessions a year for over 10 years and, according to the City, has instructed over 8,000 students. Sessions are comprised of three or six consecutive Wednesdays. Go on-line to City of Santa Clarita Seasons:

Go to https://secure.rec1.com/CA/city-santa-clarita/catalog to"Search Classes." The courses are entitled Casino Salsa, Bachata Dance, Cumbia Dance, and Modern Latin Rumba. Classes are from 6:30-7:30 pm or at 7:45-8:45 pm, depending on the course. We are indoors at Santa Clarita Park recreation building adjacent to the parking area (Seco Cyn near Pamplico).

Youth (15 and over) are permitted if a parent or guardian is present for the first class (the parent/guardian can sit and watch or take the class as well). No partner is necessary.

Thursdays

Casino salsa (Cuban style) 6:30-7:30 pm beginners, pm intermediate/advanced are from 7:45-8:45 pm. Audit one class for free if we are late in the term, but otherwise all new folks should enroll through the City of Santa Clarita Seasons (on-line). Please contact Jonathan at 661 618-1105 for questions. Verify the class schedule but reading our calendar, as we do not meet every Wednesday - 9 weeks, then 1 week off. on the cement area between the baseball field and the soccer field. We usually have over 20 dancers per class- do not be fooled by the RSVP numbers.

Since Casino dance does not use spins, any smooth surface is adequate. Wear flat soled tennis shoes/deck shoes since we are on asphalt/concrete.

Casino is great for timing, performing teams, and transitions easily to bachata, LA salsa, and cumbia.

Friday Dance Socials

The third Friday of each month everyone (including non-dancers and friends) is invited to Vincenzo's Pizza on Lyons in Newhall (near I-5) for free classes and an opportunity to meet others, practice those techniques. Usually over 50 attend this free monthly event. You can always order pizza, salad, chicken wings, beer, or wine if you want, but the owner Steve is just happy to keep the place full of happy people.

Casino Performing Team

Intermediate Casino dancers are invited to ask about joining our local performing team. Johnny M. conducts additional instruction with those interested as our team performs at local and sometimes national/international congresses. This is the best way to get detailed instruction, learn complex and simple patterns, and inspire and contribute to our local community.
