Summary: This is a moderate hike (some steep climbs) of approx. 6 miles with about 1000 feet elevation gain. We start in Henry Cowell Park on the nature trail past old growth redwood trees. We will continue on river trail to rincon trail thru the cathedral redwoods and then down to the river on diversion dam trail. We will stop at Frisbee Beach for a snack or early lunch, then we'll head back to the main entrance.
**** NOTE - If the trail is closed, we will hike an alternate route.
Preparation: Bring sufficient water and snacks. Good hiking shoes, a hat, and hiking pole(s) if desired and plenty of water.
Directions: From SJ area: Take a look at a map so that you understand these directions:
• Take Hwy 17 south to Mt. Hermon Road exit, turn right on Mt. Hermon Road.
• Continue on Mt. Hermon Road for about 3.5 miles to the end. Turn right onto Graham Hill Road and get in the left lane. Go about 0.1 miles to Highway 9.
• At Hwy 9, Turn left thru the town of Felton for 0.6 miles to the entrance to Henry Cowell State Park. Turn left into the park. Drive on the main park road past the Pay Booth ( Pay $10 or show State Park Pass) to the end - turn right into the main parking lot. We will meet in front of the Park store and restrooms.
