This is a group for anyone interested in indoor soccer. All skills levels are welcome. This group is an off-shoot of Pug Sports Zone and was started because we have a handful of great players in the Culver City/Santa Monica area and we're looking for more great people.
There is one common theme in every game we host; there are no set teams from week to week so a member who you were playing against one week could be your teammate the next.
This helps foster an environment where we welcome anyone who wants to play, whether experienced or just starting out, an environment where effort is valued over talent; all that we ask is that you give 100%.
We're looking for people who like to compete but do not go overboard about it. Anyone who harps on other players inadequacies or has a negative attitude if the game doesn't go their way or is just a big jerk should pass us by because they won’t last long here.
if you have any questions, please e-mail Co-Organizers Richard or Scott.
I KNOW EVERYONE IS ITCHING TO GET BACK INTO PLAYING AND THE ANNOUNCEMENT, A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO (MID-JUNE), THAT THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES WAS GOING TO SLOWING START TO RE-OPEN CERTAINLY RAISED MEMBERS HOPES. I'VE STARTED TO RECEIVE EMAILS FROM MEMBERS ASKING ABOUT THE STATUS OF OUR EVENTS. UNFORTUNATELY, WE MAY NOT RETURN UNTIL THE BEGINNING OF NEXT YEAR, AT THE EARLIEST. TO UNDERSTAND WHY IT MAY TAKE THAT LONG YOU HAVE TO UNDERSTAND HOW OUR GROUP WORKS.
THE FACILITIES WE USE (GYMS AND OUTDOOR FIELDS) ARE RENTED FROM THE LOS ANGELES SCHOOL DISTRICT (LAUSD). THE PERMITS ARE ISSUED EVERY SIX MONTHS, SO THIS LAST PERIOD COVERED JANUARY TO JUNE OF 2020. DUE TO THE PANDEMIC, THE LAUSD CANCELED ALL PERMITS IN MARCH AND REFUNDED THE BALANCE. WE RECEIVED AN EMAIL IN APRIL FROM THE LAUSD PERMIT OFFICE INFORMING US THAT, BECAUSE EVERYTHING IS SO UP IN THE AIR, THEY CAN'T GIVE US A DEFINITIVE TIME LINE AS TO RE-OPENING.
THERE ARE SPECIFIC GUIDELINES THAT LAUSD MUST FOLLOW IN ISSUING PERMITS (RECEIVING THE APPLICATIONS, CHECKING WHAT'S AVAILABLE, ISSUING INVOICES, RECEIVING PAYMENT, ETC.), THEREFORE, THERE HAS TO BE A TIME PERIOD OF 60 DAYS OR SO BEFORE THE ACTUAL START DATE FOR THIS PROCESS. LAUSD HAD MENTIONED AUGUST AS A POSSIBILITY IN THE APRIL EMAIL BUT WE'VE HEARD NOTHING SINCE THEN AND, LET'S BE HONEST, WITH CORONAVIRUS CASES SPIKING IN THE LAST COUPLE OF WEEKS, LAUSD IS PROBABLY IN PANIC MODE AS THEY TRY AND FIGURE OUT WHEN AND HOW THEY ARE GOING TO RE-OPEN SCHOOLS FOR STUDENTS . . . . . . . . . WHEN TO START RE-PERMITTING THEIR FACILITIES FOR OUT OF SHAPE SPORTS JUNKIES SUCH AS OURSELVES IS WWWWWAY DOWN ON THEIR LIST.
SORRY IF I GAVE TO TO MUCH INFO BUT I'D RATHER GIVE YOU ALL THE FACTS THEN JUST POST SOME COMMENT LIKE "HOPE TO BE BACK SOON!!! WE'LL LET YOU KNOW IF ANYTHING CHANGES!!!". OF COURSE WE DO HOPE TO BE BACK SOON (IF SOON MEANS THE BEGINNING OF NEXT YEAR) AND WE'LL LET YOU KNOW IF ANYTHING CHANGES. PLEASE EVERYONE STAY SAFE AND HEALTHY.
