What weβre about
WELCOME!
The Sarasota Permaculture & Transition Meetup is a forum open to all interested parties to learn about and to implement permaculture design concepts. We can provide opportunities for learning and implement sustainability concepts into our lives. We can accomplish this through information sharing, presentations and active participation in projects that will take knowledge, (i.e. that which we bring to the group and that which we learn from others), into the realm of action by engaging participants in the process.
In our own right we are all leaders and followers. Each of us has talents and our collective knowledge will, over time, be organically mixed into the fold when opportunities arise to activate that which each of us brings to the table.
So come and "peer through the veil." As a community, it promises to be a good place to "plant" oneself and to grow.
GO TO "learn more..." (below)
IMPORTANT TIP: The message board is for all members to post items of interest. So make a posting and also check the MESSAGE BOARD frequently. You can get an email post when new messages appear and learn how to track those of importance to you. It is a great way to keep connected...

- Hernando County Seed Swap11251 Salina St, Brooksville, FL
The Hernando County Homesteading group will host our 3rd SEED SWAP on June 1st, 2024 at Our Permaculture Farm- 11251 Salina Street Brooksville. This event is open to the public and it is free. There is a Homesteading 101 class offered for a $30 fee, but everything else is free to attend.
1. We are looking for sponsors to contribute to purchasing locally sourced seeds for the swap. The intention is for attendees to bring seeds to share and take some home. We would also like to have a variety of seeds supplied by the sponsors to make the bounty a bit sweeter. We will have signage at the event with Sponsor info, and they can have a vendor spot to sell or display their homesteading-related items. Each Sponsorship cost is $100. A sponsor can contact April at 727-457-3242 via text or email at info@justsourceit.org.
2. Business vendor spots are available to group members on a limited basis for $25 each. Join the Facebook group- Hernando County Homesteading. We have 20 tables available. The vendors must have homesteading, (farming, permaculture, food preservation, safety-related, gardening) items or services to be included. We ask that all vendors have some seeds, plants, and soil to share with attendees at their tables (It will help get people to your tables). You don't have to be an official business to have a vendor spot. We are looking for backyard growers, egg sellers, mushroom foraging, canning, preppers, unpaper towel makers, beekeepers, and more. You can set up a pop-up tent for your booth spot. Contact April to reserve your spot 727-457-3242.
3. The purpose of the SEED SWAP is to share seeds, ideas, plants, and homesteading-related passions with each other. We are building a community of homesteaders! It will be warm, so dress appropriately. The swap tables will be set up under shade.
4. We will be offering farm tours from 9am-1pm to learn more about permaculture growing and using weeds as edible plants. The Farm nursery will be open to purchase 100% chemical-free plants! Try some farm-raised drinks like lemongrass tea and infused water.
5. There will be limited seating for the Homesteading 101 class by April Johnson-Spence. The cost is $30 per person, and 20 spots are available. The class will be in the air-conditioned classroom from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. You must purchase that ticket on this site to get a seat. No refunds will be given, but we will create a waiting list, and you can donate your seat to the next in line if you wish. Please post your questions below or email info@justsourceit.org or text 727-457-3242 with any questions.
