CBA Toastmasters Club (est. 1983) Weekly Meet-up!
• What we'll do Jumping into a Toastmasters meeting for your first time is exciting, commendable and bold. There is no expectation that you join or even speak until you are comfortable. Each Toastmaster meeting follows a regular schedule of events and is facilitated by the Chairperson. The meeting starts off with a quick round of introductions from everyone. The Word of the Day and theme of the meeting will be presented and the goal is to use the word of the day and the theme throughout the meeting. The speaking portion includes "Table Topics", where we give short, 1-2 minute answers in response to questions given by the Table Topics Master. This practice helps us to think on our feet and organize our ideas quickly. Great practice for those rapid fire questions you may experence at an interview or on a date! We then get to hear some prepared manual speeches as well, given by Toastmaster members who have put their blood, sweat and tears into each one of their speeches, I'm sure. These speeches will then be evaluated by fellow Toastmasters where the speaker receives praise on what was done well, as well as positive, constructive feedback for improvements. We follow this with a fun award ceremony: Best Speaker, Best Table Topics, Best Evaluator and Most Enthusiastic to encourage us. However, you can bribe the Ballot and Trophy Presenter by bringing goodies. We close the meeting with a joke or thought of the day. It's probably the most fun you'll ever have inside a classroom. • What to bring As a guest, you can bring a water bottle if you'd like. Water is also provided with clean glasses. • Important to know Check out our website: As well as our Facebook page:

What we're about

We are MBS (Making Better Speakers) Toastmasters and you could say that we have been one of Saskatoon's best kept secrets. Until now that is. We would like to let the you know what could be in our club for you. Would you like to become more confident in what you do? Would you like to be one of those people who seems to be able to start up an interesting conversation with almost anyone? How about not having to go through that knot-in-the-gut feeling every time you have to say something when it feels uncomfortable. As Jerry Seinfeld once said, "at a funeral, more people would prefer to be in the box than giving the eulogy." Jokes aside, we all know that fear of all sorts of things holds us back in many ways. Well, if you would like to attend one of our meetings to see what we may be able to help you with in stepping out to a more enabled you, you are more than welcome. Join our site and drop in for a visit at our club. It's free to visit and we are a welcoming bunch. Don't worry, nobody is going to try to pressure you into anything. Hope to see you at one of our meetings. Steve
