It's tubing time again! Join us on our annual tubing float trip down the Edisto River and camping at Givhan's Ferry State Park.
We've reserved the large primitive group camping area so no need to make individual camping reservations, everyone will fit into the group camp. Camping fees are $10/person per day. There is an image in the photo section with a red star where we are setting up our campground. Nightly communal campfire of course.
We'll be grilling hotdogs, cheeseburgers and chicken on Friday and Saturday night for the group. Bring group food if you can. Everyone is on there own for breakfast and lunch plans. Bring firewood if you can too for the Friday and Sat evening social campfires.
Campers; when you get to the gate house at the entrance to the park, tell them that you are camping in the primitive campground, you're entrance fee into the park is free for campers. Follow the signs to the primitive camp. You can drive up to the edge of the field/start of the primitive campground, park there and setup your stuff where you want in the primitive area. Joe and Patrice should be getting there Friday around 2-3pm.
Floaters; gather with your stuff inflated at the beach/launch area of the park at noon on Saturday. Once everyone gets there and ready we'll all launch together and start the floating party. If you are coming out just for the float trip you'll park in the main lot, blow up your stuff, grab your cooler and meet down at the beach/launch area.

There are two options for the float trip; 1) you can bring your own blowup raft, lounge chair, innertube, etc or 2) rent a tube from Edisto River Adventures.
Those who bring their own stuff will launch at Givhan's Ferry State Park beach and float down to Messervy Boat Landing where we will pull out and ferry floaters back to Givhan's Ferry (total float around 3 miles).
Those who want to buy a ticket with Edisto River Adventures to rent one of their floating tubes will put in with the whole group of us at the same place at Givhan's Ferry and then pull out at Edisto River Adventures property and be shuttled back by them to Givhan's Ferry (total float around 2 miles). They will have your rental tube available for you at Givhan's Ferry. They charge $30 per person for the tube rental and shuttle ride. You can reserve and purchase a ticket from them at the following link online:

We'll gather Saturday around noon at Givhan's Ferry State Park with our floaty things to tube down the Edisto River for a few miles. Meet with your blow up stuff at the beach/launch area. Bring a cooler with ice, drinks and food for the few hour float trip. If you are renting a tube from Edisto River Adventures we will be starting the group float at noon so make your reservation for before noon so you'll be setup and ready to launch with the group.
We're looking for volunteers to help with the float trip on Saturday. Needing a few people to help in the parking area getting floaters from the lot down to the launch site. Need someone stationed at the launch site to keep the group together till we launch together. Need someone to herd people from the campground to the launch site. Yes, this truly is like herding a group of cats.
Looking for volunteers to shuttle floaters from the pull-out back to the state park at the end of the float. Shuttle volunteers will meet with their vehicles at 10am Saturday at the parking area at the state park. We'll then drive down to the pull-out, leave vehicles there and shuttle back to the state park before the float begins at noon.
