What we’re about
This is the official Meetup page of the Save Barton Creek Association (SBCA). We protect the creeks and aquifer of the Barton Springs- Edwards Aquifer through conservation, education, and advocacy.
You can learn more about SBCA on our website at www.savebartoncreek.org. You can further connect by signing up for our monthly e-newsletter and liking us on facebook.
We will meet once or twice a month for hikes along the Greenbelt, volunteer opportunities, and educational outings. We also host SBCA Happy Hours the second week of each month. These Happy Hours feature a speaker related to our mission.
We also hope you will join SBCA by contributing to dialogue on our discussion boards.
We look forward to meeting you, whether you're new to Austin or are a life-long Barton Creek enthusiast.

See all- SBCA Talk: Chad Timmons on Camp El Ranchito on Barton Creekla Madeleine, Austin, TX
Come listen to Chad Timmons of Camp El Ranchito. This summer camp takes place on 6 miles of Barton Creek, on the largest contiguous ranch in Travis County at 6,600 acres and 10% of Barton Creek's watershed. The Shield Ranch is committed to conservation in their land management program, and through this camp, that opens up it's biodiverse oasis to local Austin youth from a variety of backgrounds. Camp El Ranchito's mission is to connect children with the natural world by providing an extraordinarily fun and inspiring nature-immersion experience. The spirit of inclusion and stewardship can be seen in all of the programs they offer 10 yr - 18 yr olds. It's an amazing camp with many scholarships available to Austin's families.
Previous to Camp El Ranchito, Chad Timmons worked with Texas Wildlife Association in a role setting up experiences to connect families to nature.
Come anywhere from 6:30 pm to 7 pm to get your food ordered and drinks purchased, and to socialize.
This talk will take place at La Madeleine's restaurant located on Brodie Lane close to the 290 intersection. We will be meeting in a corner sectioned off for us, and we will start the program at 7 pm and after the presentation there will be a time for questions. We will wrap up around 8 pm, but feel free to linger.
