In 2013, I began my work with seniors teaching how to use technology - computers, phones, tablets and readers. Since that time, there has been a noticeable movement towards mobile devices (smart phones and tablets) among seniors. Given their portability and ease of use, they are preferable over bulky laptops or stationery desktops. With this in mind, I have decided to make the Tuhursday afternoon classes at The Phoenix into smart phone/tablet instruction. This is so important for your cognitive health and I urge you to join us. Come to one class or come to them all.

3rd Thursday at 1:00 PM monthly at The Phoenix at Delray - Free

In this series of classes, we will systematically go over all the features of your device so you get to personalize it for your needs and interests. First class of the series is Thursday, Sept 20th at 1:00 PM at The Phoenix at Delray. Bring your devices/chargers, pad, pen and questions. By the end of 3 months, you'll be rockin' this technology!

Week 1:
Basic Functions (touchscreen, home button, voice commands, using the phone with all its bells and whistles (video chatting, blocking, voice mail setup, personalized ring tones and more)

Week 2:
Emailing (adding email account to phone), basic functions), Saving & Sending Pixand Acccessories (flashlight, airplane mode etc)

Week 3:
Texting (includes sending and saving images, voice commands, texts read out loud, Messenger, What's App), copying and pasting, clock (alarm and all other functions), and music

Week 4:
Maps (GPS), Passwords, Home Page and Apps (setting up home screen, folders, deleting and adding apps, App & Play Store, and going over great apps for seniors

Week 5:
Contacts, Calendar and Camera (editing and creating contacts, photos on contact, unique ring tones, how to use calendar to simplify life with reminders, screenshots)

Week 6:
Pictures (all there is to know about taking them, editing, albums, saving, sorting, special effects and sharing)

Week 7:
Videos (taking, editing, saving and sending)

Weeks 8 & 9:
Settings - (We will go through each setting. This takes 2 weeks.)

Week 10 & 11:
Internet and Music (What's a window, what's a tab, using voice commands to search, sites for seniors. There's a lot to cover here and often takes 2 sessions)
