After a very successful first meetup, we’re excited to be holding a second event on the 13th October.

Once again, we are being very kindly hosted by our friends Equal Experts, and you’ll also be hearing a brief talk from them on how they found Scala World earlier this month. We also have two other great talks lined up on Scala.js, and introducing FP to an existing codebase, with plenty of time for questions.

We do have limited space (as you will have seen if you came along to the previous meetup!), so please do RSVP early to avoid disappointment.

The agenda for the evening will be as follows:

6:30pm: Arrive and drinks

7pm - Talk One: Jacob Taylor-Hindle, Equal Experts

Synopsis: Quick Tour of Scala World '16

7.15pm - Talk Two: Rhys Sharrem – Software Engineer at HMRC

Title: Push Your State to the Edge

Synopsis: Everyone's talking about Functional Programming, but how do you introduce it to an existing codebase? In this talk, we'll cover one potential approach: introducing a functional core, which pushes all state to the edge of your system.

7.40pm - Talk Three: Greg Dorrell – Software Engineer at Hotels.com (http://hotels.com/)

Title: An Introduction to Scala.js

Synopsis: Scala.js started three and a half years ago and has yet to “take off” - but it’s ready to. In this talk, we’ll introduce Scala.js and walk through some small projects built using it.

8pm: Socialise and Refreshments

We look forward to seeing you there!

All the best,
Alice, Tony and the Scala Central team
