This is a group for people interested in Scandinavian folk and ethnic dress. This could range from wanting to know how to meet the dress requirements for workers and sellers at the Junction City Scandinavian Festival to those working on a full formal Norwegian Bunad. We will sew and study together and discuss useful tools.
A basic, pretty apron and some accessories can convert a simple jumper to a passable folkdract or add the finishing touches to your bunad or folkdracht. It also makes a lovely hostess gift or butikk donation. A child sized apron plus the traditional cap we will be making later this fa'll would be a fun holiday gift. In this class we will make a simple apron. This is one of several classes this year to help people put together a traditional outfit suitable for 17 Mai, Scandinavian festivals and otherwise sharing our culture. Note: there will be 2 sewing machines to share, but if you can bring your own that's ideal.
Sunday, Sep 29th at Sonja Lodge. Lodge members $5. Non-members $10. For more information and a supply list, contact Juli Baumler [masked] Preregistration required by Sep 25.
