Kayak/Hike Exploration

This weekend we are going to be adding a different dimension to our trips! We haven't done this yet, so the adventurous type is definitely wanted on this trip!

We are going to start with a paddle, then hike, then paddle back to the start. We will be paddling to Nam Shan Tung (Hong Kong 4th most haunted village) then from there we will hike around 5km till we do a loop back to the kayaks passing through the Caritas Jockey Club Siu Tong base.
What we should encounter, nice calm waters with beautiful vistas (weather dependant) from the hike.

DIRECTIONS
Easiest way from central (allow hour and 20 min), is get to the Wu Kai Sha MTR station, catch the 99 bus to Sai Kung, and get off at Kei Lin Ha San Wai bus stop. Walk down the very steep hill all the way to the bottom, find the public restrooms and you will see the kayaks.

From Sai Kung (allow 15 minutes), catch the 299 bus or the 99 bus and get off at Kei Lin Ha San Wai bus stop. Walk down the very steep hill all the way to the bottom, find the public restrooms and you will see the kayaks.
Alternatively if coming from sai kung meet me at 8:30am at starbucks and go with me on the bus.

Here is a list of things that you need to bring

    1. pair of closed toe shoes that will get wet and will use for walking on rocks, barnacles and whatever else there is around (old trainers work)
*another pair if you dont like hiking in wet shoes*

    2. clothes that are going to get wet (i use board shorts)

    3. a base layer that will keep you warm if you get wet (rash vest, paddling shirt, polypropylene) NO COTTON!!!!! IF IT GETS WET YOU STAY COLD FOR THE ENTIRE DAY!!!!

    4. A Fleece and a light rain jacket (fleece for after paddling but also if you get cold easily, rain jacket to keep you dry from water spray, protect you from wind and the cold).

    5. A change of clothes for after kayaking (BRING even if you think you are not going to get wet) Better be safe than sorry.

    6. Packed lunch

    7. Water bottle (you can get filtered water at the put-in)

    8. Snacks

    9. camera (its better if waterproof)

    10. Dry bag if you have one

    Cheers
