SeaBronies gears up for its most ambitious voyage yet, which will take us from the storied city of New Orleans to exotic Mexican ports, where we will make an excursion to ancient Mayan ruins! The runaway favorite in this year's poll (http://www.meetup.com/SeaBronies/polls/1215481/), this is set to be an incredible, once-in-a-lifetime trip.

This cruise features VIP guests PETER NEW (https://twitter.com/actorpeternew) (the voice of Big McIntosh) and JENN BLAKE (https://twitter.com/jennblake616) (artist for the IDW Select MLP:FiM comics)! Community musical guest TARBY (http://twitter.com/TarbyRocks) adds some musical flair to our lineup.

This fabulous, star-studded 5-night cruise will take us to Costa Maya (http://www.cruisecritic.com/ports/newport.cfm?ID=150), a recently developed purpose-built cruise port that sees less traffic than any other destination we've considered thus far. Just an excursion away are the ruins of the Mayan city of Chacchoben (http://www.cruisecritic.com/memberreviews/shore-excursions/excursion/63/), to which we will book a group trip.

But wait, that’s not all. We also get a day to ship, swim and sun in ever-popular cruise destination Cozumel (http://www.cruisecritic.com/ports/newport.cfm?ID=6)!

Sweetening the deal is the choice of departing port! New Orleans (http://www.cruisecritic.com/ports/newport.cfm?ID=53) is an absolutely one-of-a-kind city, and is experiencing a strong resurgence in the decade since Hurricane Katrina. There will be ample time to enjoy beignets in the French quarter while sipping coffee and people-watching the city's always lively crowds. Laissez les bon temps rouler (https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/laissez_les_bons_temps_rouler)!

We will meet up in New Orleans on January 2nd, the day before the cruise (beginning at 7:30 PM at the famous Cafe du Monde (https://www.yelp.com/biz/caf%C3%A9-du-monde-new-orleans-12)), but don't worry: If you can't make it until the day of the cruise, THAT IS OKAY! We will provide full instructions to the cruise docks here. (Watch this space!)

Ship is the CARNIVAL DREAM (http://www.carnival.com/cruise-ships/carnival-dream.aspx). This would be our second voyage on a Carnival vessel. Our complete cruising itinerary (with ports of call) is below:

More information on the cruise is available HERE (http://www.carnival.com/itinerary-classic/5-day-western-caribbean-cruise/new-orleans/dream/5-days/wcy/?numGuests=2&destination=all-destinations&dest=any&datFrom=012017&datTo=012017&embkCode=MSY).

And please, please, PLEASE read the below:

A passport is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for this voyage. Information on applying for a passport is HERE (http://travel.state.gov/content/passports/en/passports.html). Please note that OBTAINING A PASSPORT CAN TAKE WEEKS. Don't put this off: If you're interested in traveling with us, start the process TODAY (http://travel.state.gov/content/passports/en/passports.html)! If you need to obtain a passport at the relative "last minute", we have worked with the excellent folks at Travel Visa Pro (https://www.travelvisapro.com/) in San Francisco; they can get you your passport in less than a week, but it's not cheap. So get your passport the slow way (http://travel.state.gov/content/passports/en/passports.html) and save!

If you absolutely cannot obtain a passport, you will NEED two documents: [a] An ORIGINAL, GOVERNMENT ISSUED birth certificate (bearing the raised seal of a city, county, or state) proving birth IN THE UNITED STATES, AND [b] a photo ID.

No substitutions will be allowed, and the border crossing laws are very strict. HOSPITAL-ISSUED BIRTH CERTIFICATES ARE NOT VALID; birth certificates used as proof of US citizenship must be issued by an American government authority (be it a city, county, or state).

Furthermore, if your name has CHANGED since the name listed on your birth certificate, you will need to bring "connecting documentation" (original name change certification with raised government seal, original marriage certificate documenting change of name, etc.) to prove that you are the named person.

If you arrive with insufficient documentation, you will likely NOT BE ALLOWED TO BOARD THE SHIP!

Want to avoid this mess? Just get a passport (http://travel.state.gov/content/passports/en/passports.html). It's valid for 10 years and is the absolute best form of ID you can get!

Please provide your desired Badge Names here (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeEm7bFeTzm3HU8sPExexczi9n6AP5BrjVBY6GXGHoP1sOr8A/viewform) by 12/21. This is especially important if you're bringing +1s. If nothing is provided by that date we will use your Meetup name for you and your +1s if applicable.
