Announcing a new Meetup for Seattle Photography Group!

What: Guided Photo Challenge PLUS Critique & Post Processing Demo

When: Saturday, September 25,[masked]:00 AM

Price: $25.00 per person

Where: REDred Photo
110 South Washington Street
Seattle, WA 98104

This new workshop from REDred Photo offers a new twist on a popular idea. This all day workshop will take place in two parts, a morning shooting session and an afternoon critique and processing session.

The Guided Photo Challenge session in the morning will run from 9:00 AM to Noon. We'll first meet at my studio in Pioneer Square to be assigned our Photo Challenges. Each person will draw a photo challenge subject from a hat and be limited to shooting just that one subject, with one camera and lens combination, for the entire morning. There will be a limited number of challenge themes so we can have some overlap and see how someone else might shoot the same theme. Then we go out and shoot. We can stay together or split into smaller groups as everyone likes.

I'll be hovering around to help everyone with their photo challenges, offering suggestions and posing questions to help you look more deeply and see things with new perspective. I'll help with composition and answer technical questions as needed.

The goal of this exercise is to force you to step outside your comfort zone and focus on a single, simple subject, and work through numerous ways of seeing and capturing one subject theme.

After shooting, we'll break for lunch and return to the studio at 1:00 PM for the Critique and Post Processing session. (You may want to bring laptops for this.) We'll go over some tips on the selection process, sorting through your unprocessed photos to identify the most promising images, and then move into a discussion-style demonstration of basic post processing techniques in Lightroom and Photoshop. The goal of this session is to help you identify which images to spend time processing and polish those images to their full potential.
