Backyard Food & Carbon Farming with Acadia Tucker (Branching Out Online Series)

Details
During World War II, Victory Gardens sprouted up all over in many countries to supplement rations, boost morale and reduce pressure on the public food supply. More recently, they have made a comeback in response to mitigating the impacts of climate change and as a popular hobby throughout the pandemic.
This session describes the climate changes taking place in our own backyards, and the various steps we can take to boost a garden’s resilience. I’ll invite you to think of gardening as civic action. By building organically-rich soil and cultivating perennial plants, we can capture greenhouse gases in the very place we’re growing nutritious food.
PRESENTER: Acadia Tucker is a regenerative farmer, climate activist, and author. Her books are a call to action to citizen gardeners everywhere and lay the groundwork for planting an organic, regenerative garden. For her, this is gardening as if our future depends on it. She is the author of Growing Perennial Foods, Growing Good Food: A citizen’s guide to backyard carbon farming, and Tiny Victory Gardens: Growing food without a yard.
COST: Sliding scale of $5-25 with a $5 deposit required (you can pay more than the deposit now, too) - here on paypal or by check: Seacoast Permaculture, 219 France Rd, Barrington NH 03825. If the fee is a barrier please reach out to Amy A.
The BRANCHING OUT SERIES is cosponsored by Seacoast NH Permaculture and The Resilience Hub; you only need to sign up on one of our pages. We are turning a problem into a solution by using our current online platform to bring speakers from far away and teaming up with other groups!
