What we're about

We're a group of photographers from the very photogenic Seacoast Region, from Newburyport, MA all the way up to Portland, ME.

Join us for monthly meetings on technique, tools, photo critique, and anything else photography; or join in on an upcoming meetup, workshop, or class.

Meetings are on the third Thursday of each month in the early evening. Meetups are scheduled at least two weeks ahead of time in our neck of the woods, and as far away as New York City.

We are affiliated with the Seacoast Artists Association (www.SeacoastArtist.org) in downtown Exeter, NH; the CAPE (Cape Ann Photographic Expeditions) Meetup group in Cape Ann, MA; AND the Newburyport Photowalks Meetup in Newburyport.

Monthly Meeting - Pub Night at the Docks

Green Bean at Wentworth Marina

Let's meet in real life for a less formal and more intimate gathering at the Green Bean (http://www.nhgreenbean.com/locations--contact.html) Dockside at the Wentworth Marina in New Castle, NH.

Normally open until 9pm, as of early July they're informing me that this year they're only open 'till 7:30PM Thursdays. So if you're looking for a nosh or a dockside beer, come early.

There will be plenty to photograph - bring your polarizing filter - and keep in mind that marinas are near water. Last year we had a good time with nighttime photos at the marina, so bring your tripod and remote if you can stay past sunset.

There will be no agenda, though the normally taboo subjects of politics and country music remain off limits.

The monthly challenge from last month (Boats) will carry over to the September meeting. Wow, "boats", I wonder why that was chosen before the marina meetup?

Save room for ice cream at The Ice House on your way home.

IMPORTANT: we're meeting in real-life again. And, because seating is limited, please change your 'Yes' RSVP to 'No" immediately if you feel you cannot attend.

Monthly Challenge:
Our challenge for this month's meeting is Boats. Between now and the meeting, take up to three photographs which somehow speak to your interpretation of the subject - please feel free to take great liberty with your interpretation of the subject.

Now..... I don't want to have to point this out, but pretty much everyone in this group lives practically within spitting distance of a navigable body of water. Furthermore, our August real-life non-zoomed meeting is AT A BOAT MARINA! This meetup should break all kinds of records for photos taken within the 60 days prior to the meeting, and not from the archives. Just sayin'.

Don't be shy, we have a very encouraging group of critics and we'll all learn something from the experience. Most of all, have fun shooting!

NOTE: This is an in-person meeting again:
After about a year and half of meeting online, this month we are back to meeting in real life at the Seacoast Photographers' studio in downtown Newmarket, NH.

Coming from Exeter, the mill is on the right (and on the left coming from points north). Turn into the parking lot driveway at the round blue Rivermoor Landing sign, directly across the street from the Big Bean.

NOTE: The round blur Rivermoor Landing sign was recently removed, perhaps temporarily for repairs. The driveway is actually Penstock Way (no street sign, but you can see it on Google or Bing maps). The driveway is directly across from where Chapel Street intersects with Main Street.

Once you turn onto the driveway, make your first immediate left into the parking lot and find yourself a space. Use only the parking lot between the mill building and the street. Parking is plentiful and free. Please don't park out back or in resident spaces, only in the lot at the front of our mill building.

The studio is on the ground level (which is below street level). Come in the glass door nearest the driveway, turn left down the short hallway, and come on in.

Other:
Anything photography- or photographer-related is fair game.
