September Exhibition – Black and White – Shades of Gray

Main Street Art in Newfields, NH is opening its doors once again to the Seacoast Photographers Group (that’s us!) for the annual fall exhibit.

This year’s title is Black and White – Shades of Gray, and as you might guess, the theme is black and white photography. The subject matter is at the photographer’s choice, as long as it complies with the guidelines below.

The opening reception will be Saturday, September 7, 2019 from 3:00-5:00 PM, and the show will run through Saturday, September 28, 2019.

Who Can Participate:
The show is open to any photographer who is a member of the Seacoast Photographers, CAPE, or Newburyport Photowalks Groups. That's this Meetup group - if you're a member of this group, you may participate. If you're not a member, sign up before the Call to Entry Submission Date.

Follow the simple instructions to add your photos (max of 3) and join the show. Deadline for submissions is July 31st, end of day. There is a $25 entry fee (for up to 3 pieces) via credit card to cover the minor costs of the show, police presence (since we'll have wine!), and yummies. We also make a donation to MSA to help them keep their doors open so they may continue to host events like ours.

Images should represent your interpretation of the show's theme. Images must be technically proficient - blurry, out-of-focus, or otherwise technically deficient images will not be accepted. Content must avoid anything that could be construed as hateful, violent, sexual, or otherwise objectionable to the typical viewing audience.

All entries will be judged for suitability by the show committee. Submissions that do not meet the guidelines (e.g. not a photograph, not reflecting the theme, or includes something considered vulgar or inappropriate for public display, etc.) will be rejected.

Also, Main Street Art holds classes for youngsters, so images need to be “G” rated. If there are too many submissions, we will try to include at least one acceptable piece per person. The decision of the judges is final.

Notification of the committee's decisions on the website no later than August 3rd.

Hanging Requirements:
All works must be wired for hanging. Frames are not required, but the piece must be wired for hanging. The maximum size of your work, including any mat and frame, may not exceed 24 inches on the vertical side, or 22 inches on the horizontal side. Mats should be cleanly cut, frames, fully intact and unmarred, glass cleaned, canvases well stapled, and wired for hanging. Sawtooth hangers or similar are not acceptable.

Other forms of hanging may not be compatible with the hanging system, so have your work wired and ready for hanging.

Drop off your finished work at the Main Street Gallery, 75 Main St. Newfields, on Wednesday, September between noon and 5:30 pm or Friday, September 6th between noon and 7 pm.

Parking for the Opening:
We ask you to park in the municipal lot, which is on the same side of the street as the MSA gallery, but just a bit north. For details, please click or copy-and-paste the following:

Pick up your pieces on the final day of the exhibit, Saturday, September 28, 2019 between 11 AM and 1 PM. If you cannot make this date, please have someone else pick up your pieces to hold for you. Any pieces unclaimed at the end of the pickup period will become the property of Main Street Art to auction for the benefit of their scholarship awards.
