Do you have an artistic side that you've longed to develop? Or are you already producing art regularly (acting, painting, music-making, pottery, performing, writing poetry or fiction, or anything else) and you want a group that will keep your creative fire burning bright?

Perhaps you are an artist already creating regularly but wanting to break through to a more professional next level?

Whether your artistic journey is at the beginning, intermediate or advanced stage, we are here to create a community of support, of friendship and of mutual inspiration, nourishing our artistic as well as our human side to bring out all the gifts, large and small, that we have inside us.

In the tradition of Julia Cameron's "The Artist's Way," we consider creativity to be more than just an expression of our play; we consider it a sort of spiritual practice. So we'll reference The Artist's Way for a sense of structure to our gatherings (for instance, picking out short exercises from the book at each meeting), we'll inspire each other to add to our well of creativity ("Artist's Dates") with occasional "field trips," and we'll share bits and pieces of the things we're creating so as to have a community of nourishing, supportive people whom we might also come to call friends.

Your hosts have done the entire Artist's Way course (and beyond) and create on an ongoing, daily basis. One is a tango dancer, visual artist, flautist, and writer, and the other is a published writer and screenwriter and occasional composer.

Together, we want to provide a venue for artists and aspiring artists to empower themselves and thrive in a mutually supportive community. We meet at 10 a.m. on the first Saturday morning of the month in Ballard (with occasional "artist's dates" field trips available).

The $5 cost of each meeting is to help defray Meetup fees and other costs. We're looking for members who are committed to creating and to supporting others in doing so.

If you own a copy of The Artist's Way, bring it with you; or consider acquiring one as it'll provide you with structure between meetings and the discovery of all the ways in which being an artist is about how you live as much as what you create.

Looking forward to the creative journey together!
