Event Description:
Data privacy is becoming an increasingly hot topic as 2021 ticks on, and for very good reason! Data leaks are plastered across the news weekly from all sorts of different entities, from banks to social media platforms. In fact, it is estimated that a company will be affected by ransomware at a clip of every 11 seconds in 2021 (Per Herjavec Group). On an unrelated note, many other companies are finding difficulties in complying with the necessary regulations in place meant to keep data secure; namely the healthcare and government contractor industries. As a result of this ever increasing sense that private data is becoming more and more accessible to bad actors, several avenues are being made toward developing frameworks that will serve as replacements for the vulnerable and outdated current ones.
Zama.AI is one of those innovative companies tackling this novel and complex problem, led by our guest speaker, CEO Rand Hindi, PhD. With inventor Pascal Paillier, Rand and the team at Zama have inserted themselves to the forefront of data privacy work. The technology invented by Pascal is a new form of what is known as homomorphic encryption, a form of encryption that allows computation on encrypted data (ciphertext) to be in the same manner as computations running on plaintext. Using this technology, Zama has positioned itself as leaders in the search for developing end-to-end encryption technology that will one day lead to a more secure internet.
Join us for a Q&A session with Rand about his vision for the future of encryption technology, the ethics of modern data practices and solutions to their flaws, his experience founding multiple startups in the realm of data science and artificial intelligence, and more! We look forward to seeing you all there!
