What we're about

Seattle Film Photographers is open to anyone living in or visiting Seattle who is interested in or currently shooting film as a photographic medium - specifically still photography. Don’t shoot film? That’s no problem. We emphasize and advocate the use of film but anyone, regardless of skill level, interested in photography or has a desire to learn more is always welcome!

You’ll note that we require dues for membership. Despite wanting to proliferate the photographic art, we need to “keep the lights” on with Meetup by paying its fees. Some funds remain after paying the bills and that extra funding is always invested into the organization in one or multiple ways: guest speakers, special events, and/or a group magazine/book publication.

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact the group organizers. Looking forward to seeing you soon!

Breakfast Film Club

Elm Coffee SLU

Somewhat inspired by the gatherings in the 19th century in Paris by Monet, Renoir and their friends who would oppose the Salon, this meetup is a weekly, Saturday morning coffee get-together and photo walk. The meetup location changes with relative frequency, but will always be held in downtown Seattle. The only exception is to accommodate special events, but any changes to the meetup will be made well in advance. We encourage you to bring work to share – prints, if possible, or digital images on a tablet. The only requirement is that it needs to be (mostly) film-based work. Looking forward to having you join us!

Breakfast Film Club, Special Event (See Description)

La Marzocco Cafe

*** SPECIAL EVENT *** On June 22nd the group had organized for people to bring disposable cameras to shoot with around the market. Now is the chance for you to show off your work. We're encouraging all those who participated to bring your images in either print or digital screen form. Didn't get a chance to join us with a disposable camera? No problem! We always like seeing new work from our members regardless of gear, subject, etc. Can't wait to see you all and your work! ************************ Somewhat inspired by the gatherings in the 19th century in Paris by Monet, Renoir and their friends who would oppose the Salon, this meetup is a weekly, Saturday morning coffee get-together and photo walk. Ruhrpott - When Coal left Town Gallery show opening night

High Coup Arts & Events

The region in Germany known affectionately as "Ruhrpott", which includes cities such as Duisburg, Essen, Oberhausen, Dortmund, and Bochum, was a key part in Germany's industrialization as it was home to coal mining and steel production. In this body of work, I examine the past and current state of the region, now that coal mining is no longer an active industry. This work surveys what has been left behind and how the landscape represents this history through still existing architecture.
