What we’re about

Do you want to move your photography up to the next level? Would you like to meet other photographers, share your images with them, learn what they know, and share what you know? The Seattle Photographic Society (SPS) was formed to help its members learn skills for capturing great images and sharing them with others. Novices, amateurs, advanced amateurs, and professional photographers are welcome.

We usually have three meetings a month, including both online and in-person meetings. On the first Tuesday of the month,  SPS hosts Projected Image Night. Images are critiqued by a commentator and scored by a panel of three judges. Guests may enter images for commentary only. Viewing the images and listening to the comments and suggestions and trying to apply what you have learned is one of the best ways you can improve your photography. On the second Tuesday of the month, SPS hosts Print Night. We break up into groups of 4-7 people and pass the prints around for critique. The third Tuesday of the month is SPS's Education Night. We have guest speakers, demonstrations and hands-on activities covering a wide variety of photographic topics from lighting and composition to Lightroom, Photoshop, and other image editing programs. From time to time we meet away from our usual venue and have a photo shoot.

In order to enter images into competition on Projected Image or Print Night, you must first be a full SPS member. Annual dues are $40. This is one of the best photography education deals in town.
