What we're about

Founded in 2010, the Seattle PostgreSQL Users Group (SEAPUG) gets together in person and we talk about technology and databases - especially our favorite database, Postgres! Nothing is too simple or too complicated. Come meet the people... from the newbie to expert - whether your job directly involves databases or not - all have a good time talking shop about technology over some food and drinks.

SEAPUG Spring Series: String Comparisons and Database Corruption

Fred Hutch Cancer Center - Eastlake Building

Comparisons are fundamental to computing - and comparing strings is not nearly as straightforward as you might think. Come learn about all the nuance in string comparison that you never knew existed. Then learn how this complex computer science problem has specifically impacted PostgreSQL - including one recent development that could easily corrupt your PostgreSQL database if you aren't prepared.

There is visitor parking in the garage of the Eastlake Building at the Fred Hutch Cancer Center, and there is also street parking. The meters become free at 6pm.

We plan to provide pizza. Hope to see you there!

SEAPUG Spring Series: Best Practices and Billiards (Third Thursdays)

We ran a survey and lots of SEAPUG members were interested in social time. Members were also interested in best practices (aka happiness hints).

Well, we decided that we're only going to tell you database best practices if you come to a social event. Sorry. 😉

This spring, on the third Thursday of every month, come to the Garage on Capital Hill at 7pm for an informal hang-out with other SEAPUG members. Play a game of 8-ball on the pool tables. Enjoy a drink. They even have bowling.

One PostgreSQL happiness hint will be shared and discussed at some point during the evening. (Briefly - maybe 5 minutes or so.) Don't miss it!
