When and how did you become aware that you're an HSP? And how did you learn about our group?

I guess I kind of "always knew" but never had an explanation until I read Aron's book in '96. My mother, who once said she "never understood me, ever since I was a baby," actually gave me the book. She saw it at B&N and "thought it sounded like me."

Have you read any of Elaine Aron's books about the HSP trait? Which ones?

I've read "The HSP," "The HS Child," "The HSP in Love," and "Making Work Work for the HSP." I also have the HSP Workbook.

How have you experienced being an HSP? Please share a couple of examples of how being Highly Sensitive affects your life.

I get over-stimulated easily. I love people but get absolutely exhausted by them, too. Too much noise, too much visual stimulation, and I feel overwhelmed. I carefully plan what I commit to, needing the ability to "escape" if it's too much.

What sort of activities do you enjoy? Besides just "meeting to talk," what sort of activities (if any) would you enjoy, as part of an HSP meetup group?

I love hiking, bird watching, photography, sailing, cultural events like plays or the symphony. Events where we can be together but have "down time" too. :)

What do you hope to get from your membership in our HSP meetup? (i.e. friendship, activity partners, support, networking, etc)

It would be great to know other HSPs, to make a few friends, to spend time with people who "get" what it's like to be an HSP. Sometimes I get tired of explaining, or of being labeled "shy" (I'm not - just extremely introverted - they're different! :)

I'm Christy. I'm an HSP and INFJ. I'm also an empath and extremely intuitive. I've known about "HSPs" for over 10 years. Knowing has really helped me to understand myself and to know better how to take care of myself. I would love to meet other HSPs.
