Seattle Hadoop/Scalability/NoSQL Meetup: Tim Anglade, SEOMoz

This meetup focuses on Scalability and technologies to enable handling large amounts of data: Hadoop, HBase, distributed NoSQL databases, and more!

There's not only a focus on technology, but also everything surrounding it including operations, management, business use cases, and more.

We've had great success in the past, and are growing quickly! Including guests from LinkedIn, Amazon, Cloudant, 10gen/MongoDB, and more. This months' guests:

Tim Anglade could also talk about the NoSql concept a little bit rather than just about his schedule. I think Ben Hendrickson used general diagrams and went into unnecessary details. Still beneficial on some subjects, but could have been better.

This wasn't my favorite meetup, but it wasn't a dud either.

I loved the energy of the SEOMoz guy, but I remain skeptical of anyone assert that C/C++ is the way to go in this day and age. Focus on the algorithms, I suppose.

The French guy was interesting, but I would have liked to see more detail of the individual projects that fall under the "NoSQL" umbrella. At the very least, I do intend to check in with the NoSQLTapes site (or whatever he called it).

Enjoyed Tim's presentation. Ben's was over my head, but then I don't use any of these tools.
