What we're about

The Seattle Go Center Shogi meetup is open to all who want to learn and play "The Generals Game" -- Shogi, aka Japanese Chess. Shogi is a rich, complex and very fun game steeped in centuries of Japanese tradition. If you like chess, games, Japanese culture or just generally working your brain, we invite you to join us. All levels are welcome and we have experienced players and many other resources to help you improve your game or just learn the very basics.

Saturday Shogi sessions (shorter this week)

700 NE 45th St

Casual games of Shogi, 2:30 PM - 5:00 PM! Free instruction for beginners. All levels welcome! Equipment provided on-site. Hosted at Seattle Go Center -- 700 NE 45th St., 2nd Floor Seattle, WA 98105 First ten visits free! (After that, we have membership options for every budget!)

Tuesday Shogi Lessons

700 NE 45th St

Tuesday's format is a lot more flexible than the Saturday format. I often show basic checkmates, tactics, patterns, and strategies in a small group. These techniques will improve your overall game and make you a stronger player! Players of all skills are still welcome. If a lot of players show up, we usually play casual games. We encourage stronger players to give new players a handicap to help even out the game and give both players a challenge. As always, I will bring some learning resources and Shogi sets from my personal collection. I hope to see you there!
