Session

Big Data and complex event processing (CEP) are ends of the data spectrum that get tremendous value from machine learning.

The first section will cover the basics of machine learning. You’ll learn about the model types and analytic processes with live demos of several machine learning problems. We’ll then discuss the challenges of building analytic applications that rely on CEP and Big Data .

The second and deeper part of the discussion will focus on MLLib. You’ll first see a brief review of its Spark 1.0 offerings and samples running in Scala. Then we’ll discuss our experiences building our own MLLib algorithm and integrating it with an application.

Some experience with R, Python, Java, or Scala is not necessary, but will help you take the most advantage of the second session.

Food

Food will be sponsored by Ubix! (no need to bring $5.00 for the basket)

Presenter

Drew Minkin worked as a Director and Architect at Predixion Software and VP of Analytics at Halo BI, and is currently Principal Program Manager of Ubix Labs.
