• Minute Movie - Tip

    Seattle Film Institute

Theme of the Month: TIP Every month we're going to each make a minute movie on a theme. This month it's TIP. Your interpretation can be as literal or as figurative as you want. Let your imagination take over! All minute movies will be screened the third Sunday of the month. So come see your movie on the big screen, talk about it, get feedback from your peers, learn new techniques and meet awesome people! We'll meet at 6:30 in the lobby for some socializing time (bring a contribution of some kind) and then at 7 we'll move upstairs for the screening. See you there! Suggested $5 donation The movies will be available on the facebook page, twitter and on the blog so be sure to like and follow: Use #minutemovies on your posts! Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/SeattleMinuteMovies Twitter: @Minute_Movies Blog: https://seattleminutemovies.wordpress.com (https://seattleminutemovies.wordpress.com/) If you want to connect with other filmmakers to make a minute movie, head over to the facebook group to find and coordinate with them! https://www.facebook.com/groups/702898259847228/ Swag: https://represent.com/minute-movies-ltd-edition-shirt-2014-15?var=tutorial_share_fb Some quick guidelines: To submit: send me your video file with https://wetransfer.com/ -All movies should be roughly one minute long, no more than two minutes (plus 15 seconds of credits) -Somewhere in the credits include the theme and the phrase "Made for Seattle Minute Movies" -No copyrighted material (including music*) -Keep everything respectful. This is a family friendly group! -Upload your video to YouTube and send me an email at [masked] with the link and I'll post a list of all the videos after they've been screened. -Deadline is the Saturday before the screening -Movies will be screened on a first-come, first-serve basis. So send me the link as soon as you're done! -Priority will be given to those who are present at the meeting, but if you finish a movie and can't make it, send me the link and I'll still screen it! -In the interests of keeping the screening from going more than 2 hours, movies that follow all the guidelines have priority (on time and within the length limit). You are welcome to submit multiple films, but I might ask you to pick which one will be shown if there are a lot of submissions for the month. -By submitting you're giving Minute Movies permission to use clips and images from your video for promotional purposes. *A few sites for royalty free music: Incompetech - http://incompetech.com/music/royalty -... • Minute Movie Network & Workshop *New Series*

    Seattle Film Institute

Do you have an idea for a Minute Movie but no idea where to start? No ideas? ...but you wanna help out with someone else's masterpiece. Maybe you're stumped with some aggravating production problem or just love to help other people solve theirs. Do you have a camera with no script, a script and no camera crew? We'll be meeting every month on the 4th Sunday in support of our Minute Movies screening (that happens on the 3rd Sunday of every month). We'll gather to network and workshop. Oh, in case you're wondering what makes a Minute Movie... a one word theme is "randomly" chosen at the end of our screening to guide the direction of the next set of films. Something suggestive like: HOT or BRILLIANT or PASSION. We allow any genre be it comedy, drama, documentary, docudrama or maybe some weird experimental musical...etc. Just keep 'em original and under two minutes. In this inaugural meetup of this series, we'll be exploring the subtle art of making a movie short. As in, not very long. Sometimes the biggest challenge is cutting your movie down to size. You want to keep all the juicy parts and feel like you've already cut it to the bone. You just don't know what else to trim. You'll get plenty of tips on where to start. Speaking of TIPs, that's the theme for this months Minute Movies. All comers are welcome from green-newbies to crusty-ol-pros, young and old. What to bring: Enthusiasm, curiosity, ideas for a movie, cool resources to share, ingenuity, positive attitude ;-) Let's make some Minute Movies!
