WordPress Help Desk Meetup

Smart Buildings Center, Pacific Tower

—— Tonight's Meetup: Help Desk! —— Want Help with your WordPress site, or want to help others? This is the place to come for learning and help getting over a hurdle. Bring your laptop and be ready to share your question, or help others with their questions. ——— The Help Desk Meetup ——— Meets the 3rd Tuesday of every month, and is intended for a wide audience: from new WordPress users to experienced bloggers, cutting edge designers, or advanced developers; all are welcome. The Seattle WordPress Meetup is a free, non-judgemental place for people of any skill level, interest, or background to come and learn, share, and participate in our amazing WordPress community. —— More About the Help Desk Meetup —— ** Not Just Technical Help! Our community is full of members with a broad range of expertise from building sites, to front and back-end development, hosting, strategy, UX and design, SEO and analytics, social networking, to project and business management. Bring your non-technical questions and expertise, too! ** Come Help Others! If you don't need help, please come anyway! We want to add your voice, skills, and experience to the conversation. Besides, we just like your company! :) Have fun sharing your thoughts, debating with your peers, and yes, marketing yourself and making friends as you help others over their hurdles. Remember: if you've been doing WordPress for 2 days, you can help the person who's been doing it for 1 day. ——— Things to do before you arrive ——— ** Back up your site Backing up your website is arguably the most important thing you can do to manage a wide variety of risks. For your safety and that of the people helping with your site, please take the time to create a backup of your site before you come. If you don't know how to do that, no problem! That can be one of the first things we do! ** Bring your laptop, fully charged, and your power adapter ** Have all your logins handy We want to make the best use of your time with us, so make sure you have all your credentials ready to go so you don't spend your time searching for a username or password. Here are a few things we might need. * WordPress Admin login * Web host login (cPanel, etc.) * FTP credentials * Domain registrar * 3rd party plugins & services: WooCommerce, Hubspot, etc. ——— Location ——— We are located in the Training Space for the Smart Buildings Center, a project of the Northwest Energy Efficiency Council. We meet on the first Thursday of each month from 10-noon at the Wallingford Good Shepherd Center, Room 221. It’s not far from the freeway and has free parking. PS – Please note that this Meetup is specifically for those with a freelance business that relies on WordPress and not intended for those who have their business website made in WordPress. There are many other Meetups for WordPress users. WordPress Contributor Meetup

Uptown Espresso

Come hang out with other WordPress users, designers and developers and contribute to the WordPress project. Note: this is not an educational meetup - it's about contributing. If you're looking to learn WordPress or get help with a project, check out another meeting on the Seattle WordPress Meetup calendar (http://www.meetup.com/SeattleWordPressMeetup/events/), but if you'd like to contribute to WordPress, we'd love your help. No previous experience needed – you just show up and we'll help you find something to do. You can see an overview of different contributor teams at make.wordpress.org (https://make.wordpress.org/). We'll be working on things like: • Documentation • Support • Subtitling videos for WordPress.tv (bring headphones) • WordPress Core Hope to see you soon!

WordPress Developer Meetup

WeWork 500 Yale Ave N

This month, we thought we'd continue with Lean Coffee (https://leancoffee.org) but keep discussion to Plugins as a general topic. Come with any questions you might have about Plugins in Wordpress. We meet on the fourth floor. Go through the main doors after the elevators and we are to the right. The front door does lock at 6pm sharp. We will have a sign on the door to text us to let you in if you show up after.
