What we’re about
Second Half Rally is a group for experienced life veterans who like active recreation and sharing good times. We enjoy activities such as recreational hiking, kayaking, festivals, concerts, good eats & drinks, and exploring cool places. Our one simple goal is to have FUN!
We chose the name Second Half Rally because all of us share that life situation chronologically, even though we don’t feel like it. If you’re basically a kid who wants to go outside and play with friends, you should fit with our group.
"Put me in coach! I’m ready to play... TODAY!”
1. Our primary goal at every event is to HAVE FUN. Other groups tend to focus on biking, hiking, or kayaking led by serious aficionados. Too often, they never get around to having fun.
2. All members MUST post a clear personal photo showing their face so we can recognize each other at meetups to help build a comfortable sense of community.
3. Our group is friendly and welcoming, but we don’t tolerate whiners, jerks, dorks, or anyone else who spoils the fun for the rest of us. People who don't fit with the group are quickly removed from membership.
MEMBERSHIP IN SECOND HALF RALLY IS FREE! IF YOU DON'T LIKE SOMETHING, JUST REMEMBER YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR...

- Trail Hike at Jug BayPatuxent River Park, Upper Marlboro, MD
Jug Bay Natural Area is a Prince Georges County park that's a convenient place for hiking in a beautiful natural environment. The park's improved trail system creates more interesting paths through the woods that avoid previous muddy areas. Park details below:

MEET AT THE VISITORS CENTER
Look for the Patuxent River Park sign at the stone gate on Croom Airport Rd. Turn left there onto the 1.5 mile entrance road. We'll meet by the Visitors Center at the end of the road. See the Meetup map for exact location. Entrance to Patuxent River Park is FREE.
HIKING PLAN
From the Visitors Center, we'll follow the shoreline trail which leads to an observation deck facing Jug Bay. From there, we can take the improved trail loop that connects Croom Airport with the main Visitor Center through several miles of narrow trails that wander up, down, and around the park's rolling terrain.
Our group will hike at a relaxed pace to sightsee along the way. Total distance will be 4-5 miles on natural surface trails. Wear comfortable hiking shoes that can handle the woods, tree roots, and any rough trail conditions we encounter. Please respect any physical limitations you have that might prevent you from keeping up with our group.
FINAL DETAILS
We'll need good hiking weather for this event. A little rain won't stop us, but we won't go in miserable conditions. I'll post an update and send out an email by 9:00 am if we need to change plans or cancel.
I hope to see you there!
