This is another terrific outdoor event in Eastport that our SHR group has done for the past two years. We really enjoyed being by Spa Creek on a dock with warming beverages watching the brightly lighted boat parade. Much creativity on the boats, a nice crowd, and very well done. As our group well knows, hanging out in Eastport is always a good time...

Christmas Lights Boat Parade

The Christmas Lights Boat Parade is sponsored by the Eastport Yacht Club, which describes it as follows:

Spa Creek in EastportAnnapolis, Maryland

Date: Saturday, December 14, 2013Time: 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Every year on the second Saturday in December, magic happens on the water of the Annapolis Harbor... Boats suddenly appear out of the cold winter night illuminated with thousands of colored lights and crewed by jolly revelers. Families and friends gather at their favorite viewing spots along the waterfront to see this yearly spectacle and to celebrate the holiday season together. The Eastport Yacht Club Lights Parade is one of Annapolis' signature events, and we invite you to join us as a participant or a spectator cheering on all the decorated boats and their crews.

Meet at the Boatyard Bar & Grill

The boat parade starts at 6:00 pm, so we'll first gather at 4:00 pm to share some Christmas cheer and refreshments at the Boatyard Bar & Grill. It's a fun casual place that's conveniently located just two blocks away from our favorite viewing area on Spa Creek where the parade will happen. Parking is available on neighborhood streets.

Viewing the Boat Parade

Around 5:30 pm, we'll head a couple of blocks over to the dock area near the Annapolis Canoe & Kayak store and the Chart House restaurant. Follow Severn Ave. to 3rd Street at the ACK store and walk along the Spa Creek docks toward the Chart House. There are several long piers there where people gather to watch the parade. If you miss us at the Boatyard Bar & Grill, look for us there near the dock.

We'll look for a good space with a nice view of Spa Creek and the passing boats. Bring a folding chair (optional), a flashlight, and an invigorating beverage to help you stay cheerful and warm.
