Mindfulness of Breath/Ambient Sound Meditation
Join us for a secular mindfulness meditation in which we pay attention either to the breath or ambient sound. Instructions for both meditations will be provided. No previous experience with meditation is necessary. If you have any questions, email [masked]. ---------- The meditation is in the basement of the library at Harvard's Science Center. Enter the building from the main plaza where the food trucks are located. Walk into the Clover Cafe, look to your right and you will see the entrance to the library. Just tell the security guard you are going to the meditation. Once in the library, take the stairs to the basement turn left, and keep walking to to the glass-enclosed room at the end. ----------- Our meditations have been collected into a book published by New World Library: Secular Meditation: Practices for Cultivating Inner Peace, Compassion, and Joy (http://www.newworldlibrary.com/BooksProducts/ProductDetails/tabid/64/SKU/83697/Default.aspx). We also have a Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/groups/207307035531/). Email Rick Heller at [masked] for more information.

What we're about

This is a meditation group for people looking to practice and to discuss meditation in a nonreligious context. We have been meeting since 2009. We are sponsored by the Humanist Hub (http://www.humanisthub.org/). Newcomers are always welcome!

We strive to make this a welcoming group for everyone from beginners to experienced meditators.

Our meditations have been collected into a book published by New World Library: Secular Meditation: Practices for Cultivating Inner Peace, Compassion, and Joy (http://www.newworldlibrary.com/BooksProducts/ProductDetails/tabid/64/SKU/83697/Default.aspx#) by Rick Heller. Rick leads many of the meditations.

We also collect RSVP's at the Humanist Hub meetup page and on Facebook. We often meet at the Science Library at Harvard. When we do, we require RSVP's from first-timers, so the names can be added to list given to the security guard to guarantee admittance (No Harvard affiliation is necessary).
