Are you currently Therapy Certified and with what Therapy Organization? Do not proceed if you do not have a current therapy certification.

Gizmo and I are certified with Canines for Therapy.

How often and when do you plan on being able to volunteer?

3-4 times per month

What part of Wake County are you interested in volunteering with?

Northwest and central Raleigh area. Currently we work at Wiley, Washington, and Green.

Please add a short bio of why you are interested in the See Spot Read Calendar and a little about your companion therapy dog.

For many years I've either taught ESL or basic literacy students as a volunteer and have always been interested in reading with children. Gizmo and I have participated for 6 years in the See Spot Read program and have also done many assisted living visits. He is very enthusiastic but knows when to settle down and pay attention. He LOVES all people and brings a smile to most faces.

Gizmo is now seven and loves people. We have been a therapy team for 4 years. He also visits assisted living units. This meetup is so great. Thanks for being there.

What Nancy M. is saying about this Meetup Group

I'm very excited about the program. Reading has always been central in my life and for many years I was a literacy tutor at the Wake Literacy Council. This seems like a wonderful way to combine the opportunity to work with children, giving Gizmo a meaningful work activity and helping children develop an appreciation of reading.
