An Introduction to D

Join us for an evening of discussion about the D Programming Language! We intend to provide a hands-on tutorial for those unfamiliar with D. Though a basic familiarity with a C-family language will be helpful, no experience is necessary. The tutorial will consist of a presentation introducing the core features of D and hands-on experience for attendees through the online D compiler at run.dlang.io.

We'll spend as much time as we need on each feature so that we don't leave anyone behind. And if by chance we have an audience full of existing D users, we'll fall back on a more advanced presentation about web development with D.

If you're unfamiliar with D, you can get a head start by spending some time looking over https://dlang.org/ and perusing Ali Çehreli's excellent and freely-available book, Programming in D, at http://ddili.org/ders/d.en/index.html. On the night of the meetup, please bring a laptop if you have one and all the enthusiasm you can muster. We'll provide the information, the pizza, and the drinks!
