River of Refuge Work Night

Details

River of Refuge (https://sites.google.com/a/riverofrefuge.com/index/) has made a commitment to help the hidden homeless—families living for months, even years, at pay by the week motels in Kansas City. This non-profit will provide free temporary housing and other services to working families to help them get back on their feet. Located in the in a former hospital that is currently being converted, they need help doing anything from replacing lightbulbs and sweeping floors to folding pamphlets or taking out the trash.

Dress in comfortable clothing you won't mind getting dirty and close toe shoes. You may want to bring some water too.

DIRECTIONS: We'll meet at the doctors offices behind and to the right of the former Park Lane Hospital. When you turn off of Raytown Rd you'll want to veer to the right and go up an incline. The offices will be on the left side and as you turn into the small lot you should see the lights from the lobby area.

Serve KC Volunteers will help from 6-8pm every 3rd Thursday evening. If you are interested in becoming a Host for this event please let us know.

The River of Refuge purchased the former 150,000 sq. ft. Park Lane Hospital just outside the city limits of Raytown, in Kansas City, MO. The former hospital is being converted from a community eyesore to a community asset that helps needy working families move to a “place of dignity.” Once the space is converted they will provide lodging and services for the working poor, providing them with a direct alternative to “pay by the week” living arrangements and giving them the opportunity to receive resources needed to be successful in permanent housing.
