7:00pm-8:00pm - Moving to Serverless at CA/Veracode: It's More Ops than You Think

“Serverless” is everywhere, and it can be a great way to architect, build and deploy microservices. Simple, modular, stateless – all great guiding principles for serverless development. Come hear a practitioner talk about and demo an AWS-based microservice that he developed from scratch as a component of Veracode’s application security scanner. Learn how the speaker’s experience meshed (or didn’t) with existing agile practices, and how sometimes, devops can be harder than actual development (especially when you don’t know the tools)!

Speaker bio: Bob Balaban is a Principal Software Engineer at CA/Veracode. He has several decades’ experience as a developer, architect and speaker on technical topics. Bob is currently working on CA/Veracode’s Dynamic Analysis product, and has recently completed a major “learning experience” working with microservices on AWS. Bob is also co-organizer of the Serverless-Boston meet-up, which he help start almost 2 years ago.
