Welcome to Serverless DC!

Please join us for food, drink, and interesting discussion about all things Serverless in the DC metro area.

Kapil Thangavelu will be presenting the highly-regarded serverless rules engine Cloud Custodian (https://github.com/capitalone/cloud-custodian) currently leveraged by Capital One in production. Cloud Custodian is an extensible Open Source tool to help you meet compliance and regain control of your AWS infrastructure(s). Thanks to Kapil + the cloud custodian team!

This meetup will also feature a short talk from the MobilePosse team who celebrates serverless technologies deployed to AWS as well as intercloud serverless infrastructures in production at massive scale.

In this talk, Kapil will give a technical overview of Sphere 11 and how he uses Makefiles for his serverless framework. Sphere 11 is a tool in Cloud Custodian that allows users to do point in time recoveries of cloud infrastructure and diffs of their infrastructure across time.

Bio: Kapil is a Technical Fellow at Capital One focused on accelerating best practices around adoption of cloud and containers. He started his career with open source communities, and never looked back. For several years, he spent time as a core developer and consultant with the plone and zope communities. More recently, he was a core developer on juju, an open source cross cloud orchestration and provisioning product from Canonical, leading the development of its first production release, UI, and ecosystem tooling. He has worked as a consultant in the federal space migrating NASA datacenters and applications to AWS and building digital repositories at the Library of Congress.
