Getting Started with Serverless

Welcome Serverless RVA members!

Curious about the idea of processing 6 million requests a month for $1 (yes, one dollar)? Are you getting started and want to learn serverless best practices from developers pushing these applications to prod? Are you already building applications without managing infrastructure? If you answered yes to one or more of these applications - this meetup is for you!

We’re excited to announce our first session where we will actually build and deploy a serverless application while applying the fundamental concepts of serverless. This will include a single page application website, backend processing, relational database writes, real world security and make the site public; all from zero to live during the meetup! If you’re not a coder but want to see the process, we promise to explain the examples well and if you are a coder make sure to bring your laptop, and keep an eye out for “how to” prep steps to let us get rocking with the application at the meetup!

We will be live coding during this event and we welcome all levels of participates (from observation to code contributors). If you will like to code along with us we will provide gists to any assets, code explanations, and on the fly resources creation all within the limits of AWS free tier. More detailed prep steps will be provided prior to the session as well as an invitation to an Serverless RVA community slack team.
