Dear DC Designers,

As part of DC Design Week 2020, Service Design DC will be hosting our second installment of five Pecha Kucha presentations, this time centered around the theme, “Celebrating the voices of DC’s creative community.” Join us from 6:30-8pm on Monday, September 21, 2020 for an evening of Service Design inspiration!

If you haven’t experienced Pecha Kucha before, you’re in for a treat! Pecha Kucha presentations are 20 slides that auto-advance every 20 seconds - and clock in at exactly 6 minutes and 40 seconds each. Our selected speakers are going to regale us on service design-related case studies, methods, frameworks, and perspectives from various sectors.

We’ll be sure to pepper in some time for introductions and networking as well, keeping the total event time around an hour and a half. (Zoom fatigue is real!). RSVP with your email to reserve your free spot for the event. We’ll send a Zoom link closer to the event date.

SPEAKERS:

Isabella Bruno
Isabella Bruno is an experience/exhibition designer at Smithsonian's National Museum of American History. In her free time, she hangs with other museum workers to imagine the future of museums through a project called Radical Museum Futures. She believes that museums offer a public service and should be designed for staff and visitor well-being, in order to be around forever and be relevant.

Josh D'Angelo
Joshua D’Angelo is a doctor of physical therapy and board certified orthopedic specialist who has co-founded and directed global organizations centered around improving access to healthcare and innovating healthcare delivery. Dr. D’Angelo most recently co-founded MovementX, a platform technology that sends trusted physical therapists to patients seeking safe and convenient care via telehealth, home-based, and outdoor sessions. He has spoken nationally and internationally on physical therapy, leadership, and global health.

Ricardo Martins
Ricardo Martins is a Service Design faculty in SCAD (Savannah, Georgia) and works with design and innovation since 26 years ago. He is passionate about service design implementation challenges and researching strategies to improve innovation processes.

Jatin Gupta
Jatin is a product designer at T-Mobile currently designing the T-Mobile for Business web app. He is passionate about problem-solving in the digital space while keeping sustainability and ethics in mind. He has previously worked as a front-end developer, accessibility researcher, AR game designer, and now a product designer.

Jeremy Haldeman
Jeremy is the Director of Government Affairs & Advocacy for Alight (formerly the American Refugee Committee), having joined the organization in January 2017. Prior to joining Alight, Jeremy worked at the Peace Corps from 2013 – 2017 in various capacities. First, he served as the Deputy Director of Congressional Relations before being named the Director of Congressional Relations in February of 2015 and Associate Director for External Affairs in 2017. Prior to working at the Peace Corps, he spent eight years on Capitol Hill in a variety of different capacities. He held several positions in the office of former Congressman Russ Carnahan, including serving as the legislative counsel, legislative director, and then deputy chief of staff. In addition, he served as the staff director for the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on International Organizations, Human Rights, and Oversight for three years. Before working on the Hill, Jeremy was a prosecutor in St. Louis, Missouri where he served as an assistant city counselor for the City of St. Louis, which followed his clerkship for a judge on the Missouri Court of Appeals. Jeremy holds an undergraduate degree in business administration from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and a JD from St. Louis University School of Law.
