Intended to provide practice, support, education, and experience to anyone interested in learning about or pursuing a shamanic path, this is a community for beginners and advanced practitioners, alike. The focus of the meetup is on participation in shamanic practice and building a community of shamanic practitioners in Lexington and northern Kentucky.
Shamanism is the oldest spiritual practice known to humanity. Through it, we are able to experience a direct connection with divine consciousness, access other dimensions, other realities, and connect directly with those spirits who exist within those realms. Shamanism reveres the Earth and seeks to harm nothing. It is a practice that offers deep healing to the disconnected and discordant world view of modern western culture. In traditional shamanic communities, a shamanic reality was understood and supported by an entire community. Today, in most western countries like the US, that reality is denied. This group seeks to remedy that situation.
This video on the work of Michael and Sandra Harner, the founders of the Foundation for Shamanic Studies offers a more in-depth look at what core shamanism is, and how it evolved.
A small contribution will be requested at most of our events. This is done to acknowledge the energy, effort, and intention required to create the events, maintain the equilibrium of the group and pay any meetups fees required. Thank you in advance for your valuable support and interest.
In time I hope to invite practitioners from within the meetup and surrounding communities to lead workshops and group activities. If you have a skill you would be interested in sharing, that is shamanic in practice or supportive of a shamanic practice that you think would benefit the group, please contact me.
