Have you seen the Blue Ghost Fireflies? They are unique in that unlike other fireflies, whose lights blink on and off, these fireflies have lights that stay on for 20-60 seconds, just a foot or two off of the ground. Watching them is a magical experience!

Last year my husband and I hosted a small party to share the magic with some friends--this year we will share the magic again--this time with new friends we've yet to meet. We live in south Asheville and have these amazing fireflies on our property! We are hosting a small informal get-together this Friday for anyone wanting to see the fireflies.

Also we will be putting out a black light to see what moths we can attract. After watching the fireflies we can walk over and see some local moth residents. It's always a mystery to see who might show.

If you like Nature, magic, adventures in the night and meeting a few new friends, this event might be for you! We will gather outside, have a cool drink and wait for darkness, then venture a short ways to watch the light display. Wear comfortable shoes and maybe a sweather or long-sleeved shirt since our house, at the bottom of the mountain, is usually cooler than Asheville. I am limiting the number to 25, though some people are signing up through another site so the number here won't reflect the total.

To get the location, you must RSVP yes and then will be sent an email later this week with the address and directions.

Hope to see you soon!
