What we're about

THIS IS FOR ANYONE IN THE SHEFFIELD AREA

Perhaps you've already tried improv and you love it. Maybe you haven't a clue what it is.

It's like a comedy sketch show but completely made up on the spot. It can also be a longer piece of theatre often based on one word or title from the audience. Get out of your comfort zone and do something totally crazy! It's not just for 'confident' people, it's proven to help people who suffer from anxiety and we have many people through the door who say it's helped them.

We'll be posting meetups for The Jam, a monthly event where anyone can get involved; shows run by the various Sheffield groups; and workshops where you can learn from the many experienced Sheffield teachers.

Stürike Second Sundays

Needs a location

Stürike Comedy are bringing a brand new night of improvisation to the steel city!

On the second Sunday of each month we'll be down at DINA Venue opening proceedings, with the night headlined by a guest act from around the UK.

This event is pay what you feel with all proceeds split between the acts and the venue.

---

Stürike Comedy’s improv runs the gamut of human emotion and experience from the sublime to the ridiculous, creating character-driven snapshots of a world slightly stranger than our own. Common themes include: the search for purpose in a hostile, uncaring universe, the ups and downs of family relationships, and the perils of working with children and animals.

“Dizzy and Delirious. From the first gag you are drawn in. Side-splittingly funny”
Little Chicago Comedy Productions

“I thought improv would be shite but it was actually really good. 5/5 will go again!”

And this month our guest act: Run Riot Improv!

Expect quick thinking, big laughs and even improvised singing. Every show is different, so you never know what you'll get, except that what you'll get is damn good.

SaSS improv drop in

Needs a location

SaSS Improv (Spontaneity and Sheffield Steel) is a new face on the Sheffield improv scene.

Every Wednesday at 1930 at Shakespeares we will be running drop in Workshops.

Our focus during these sessions is to have fun, play games and scenes, and get to know other people in the city that enjoy being spontaneous.

No experience is necessary.

We understand that shared creativity has been limited the last few years and we aim to provide a safe space to start getting back to creating together.

Sheffield Improv Comedy Jam - Long Form Jam

Needs a location

Welcome to the Sheffield Improv Jam! A great place for new and experienced improvisers to come and play.

We are now running two jams a month, one focusing on short form and one focusing on long form. This will be the long form jam.

For those who haven't been to a jam before, you stick your name in a hat and as it's pulled out you get to do either a scene or a game, and will be joined on stage by other names from the hat. The long form jam focuses on longer, interconnected scenes with multiple players on stage. We will take the time to explain each format, but for those not comfortable with this shorter scenes are still available throughout the evening.

It's simple and fun, and Alex and Bobby are there to support anyone who hasn't done improv in a long time, or even at all.

Doors at 630pm, starts at 7pm.

All welcome, regardless of experience.
